Amazing Selling Machine 12 Review: Is the Course Still Worth it in 2020?

The Amazing Selling Machine (ASM) is a huge investment and the second most expensive course I ever bought. It's teaching is well laid out, taught by experts in the business that actually do what they teach, has over 50 hours of lessons, ongoing webinars and has an excellent FBA community.

Let me ask you a question. 

Are you tired of slaving away at a job that you don't like and looking for a life of financial freedom?

I too was in your position. Growing up I always wanted to be a business owner and when I saw how other people were making millions online I was instantly inspired. I then knew that building an online business that I can run from my laptop while traveling the world is what I desperately wanted.

I hated my job and the thought of having to do the same thing until I retired was uber depressing. I knew there was more.

I am not going to lie, it takes a lot of work to build an online business and I failed many times but in 2013 I was able to quit my day job - finally.

Can you do this with the Amazing Selling Machine 12?

Quick answer - if you work hard enough at it - I believe you can.

While Amazon FBA was not what I started off doing, I have generated over 6 figures with my ecommerce stores in dropshipping.

So yes, you CAN make money in ecommerce.

I did actually buy a course years ago in Amazon FBA but I didn't persue it which was my mistake.

This time I am going ALL IN with ASM 12 because it's an opportunity I just can't deny due to the success of so many students. 

I have never seen so many testimonials from so many students. More on that later.

People are buying online more than ever now and they are buying mostly from Amazon. 

Amazon shares and sales increased during the pandemic because people were forced to buy online. Buying habits have changed and I believe it is going to stay this way.

Take a look at this chart in Amazon sales comparing 2019 to 2020. While brick and mortar businesses closed, Amazon surged.

Imagine if you had started an Amazon business online back in 2019? You'd probably be making a lot more money during a time when things were so uncertain and at a time when the economy was crashing.

However, it's never too late because I believe Amazon's growth will continue. Jeff Bezos (Amazon owner in case you didn't know) is the richest man in the world for a reason.

Who are the Founders of the Course?

Amazing Selling Machine began in 2012 and was created by Matt Clark and Jason Katzenbach. They are hugely successful in eCom and have created multiple 7 and 8 figure businesses online.

Yea, I think you'd want to learn from these guys!

Most of the teaching is done by Mike McClary, Rich Henderson and Dan Ashburn. These instructors all do an excellent job explaining the content in a very clear and easy to understand manner.

Mike, Rich and Dan all went through ASM training and as a result have generated 7-8 figures with this system. 

You don't need any prior knowledge of Amazon FBA to follow along.

All of them actually do this stuff and have generated millions online with Amazon FBA - no reason you can't either!

How Does the Course Work?

The course is a 9 week program, but you can work at your own pace as well. It took me a week to go through all the training but that was serious binge-watching and taking notes. 

My advice would be to slow it down but everybody has their own way of learning so that is up to you.

There are 9 modules plus the introductory module. If you take your time, you could do a module a week. For those with not much free time, this is what is suggested.

Now, let's finally see what you get in the course. After logging in, you'll see the "top badge earners" section. ASM 12 has a badge system where you can list your accomplishments.

Here, you can see current members and how much revenue they are making each month. I had to blur the identities for obvious reasons!

When you click on "Videos" at the top, this will bring you to all the core training modules.

There is the Welcome Module and the rest of the modules located here. For each module, most videos also accompany a downloadable PDF which summarizes each video. 

This is a great resource because it makes it much easier to review a video this way, rather having to go play it back again.

Welcome Module

The Welcome Module has a total of 18 videos. Matt Clark does an introduction welcoming you to the course and congratulating you on your purchase. 

For those that had some uneasy feelings of dropping 5K, this video will put you at ease. It did for me!

Anyway, in this section you are going to learn the following:

  • How to navigate the ASM Community and Dashboard
  • How to Access the ASM Mentors
  • What Amazon Marketplace you should start in
  • How to set up your Amazon Seller Central Account
  • Growing your business for cash flow or cashing out (selling it)
  • Your 16 week plan

Module 1

The goal of Module 1 is to build a list of hot opportunities to sell on Amazon. You will then narrow down these opportunites to the best 3.

There are 18 lessons in this module with about 4 hours of training. This training is done by Rich Henderson with an inpirational video by Mike McClary (above). Mike built his business with ASM training while holding down a full time job, struggling through traffic and spending time with his family.

His message is simple - just set aside an hour or 2 a day to work on your business and you'll eventually get there. If you've got more time - that's even better!

In this module you are going to learn:

  • Why building a brand is so important
  • 5 elements of a hot product opportunity
  • The products you need to avoid
  • The perfect product selection system
  • Narrow down your list to the best 3 opportunities

ASM believes that building a Brand and having that "Brand Mindset" is far more important than starting out with a "Home Run" product.

When you create a brand of related products, this is the secret to a long term & sustainable business. 

You're going to learn everything you need to know about building a brand, doing product research and then narrowing them down to three.

The training is set up so that you actually TAKE ACTION while you are going through all the videos in the module, so that by module 2, you are able to use that information to move forward.

So right away I can see how actionable the course expects y0u to be, which is exactly how to approach things. Some courses you can just binge watch all the modules and take action later, but in this case it's best to follow along and execute so you're prepared for module 2.

There are 16 PDF's in this module for you to download which summarize the videos so you don't have to watch it over again if you're looking for a specific step or bit of information.

Module 2

Module 2 builds on Module 1 and shows you how to find and contact suppliers and order samples.

The goal of this module is to select your best product, choose the best three suppliers for that product and then to order samples for the product that you chose.

In module 2, you are going to learn:

  • What fees Amazon charges for each product you will sell
  • The benefits of product improvement with Product Tuning
  • The simple product sourcing system
  • How to calculate true product costs and profits for your products
  • How to order product samples
  • How to choose your first profitable product

Like module 1, module 2 has many actionable steps but by the time you are done this module you would have already ordered 3 samples from your top suppliers. 

Things are moving quick and we're just 2 modules in.

This module has a total of 18 lessons with over 3 hours of content. 

Module 3

Once you are completed with module 3, your goals are to create your brand, choose your best supplier and place your first inventory order.

In this module you are going to learn:

  • How to evaluate your product samples and choose the best supplier
  • How to create the perfect brand name
  • How to create your brand logo and buy your UPC
  • How to have your packaging and inserts designed and created
  • The importance of using a freight forwarder
  • How to place your first inventory order

There are 17 lessons in this module including the recap. 

A lot of detail goes into how to evaluate your samples and how to negotiate with your suppliers. You'll also learn whether you should ship by air or sea.

You'll also learn how to pick a perfect domain name using online tools - this is very important for your brand as the course is brand focused. Your logo is an important part of your brand and you are shown how to create one.

Packaging is also important and you will be shown how to create a perfect package design. 

There are many steps in this module but everything is laid out for you. Remember, any time you are stuck, it's just a matter of posting your question in the community and you'll get a quick answer.

This seems like a lot of work and may be daunting for some, but it's a process and the course is laid out in methodical steps - you just have to follow along.

Module 4

There are 14 lessons in module 4.

Here is what you are going to learn:

  • How to build a foundation for success
  • Learn to set up a domain name, website and Facebook page for your brand
  • Learn how to use Facebook Messenger to build up your subscriber list for your brand and how to get product reviews on Amazon (super important!)
  • How to protect your brand name across all social media websites
  • Getting brand content for social media

The goals of this module is to build an online presence for your brand. Once people see your brand over and over, they begin to trust it more thus increasing your sales over time.

You're going to build an audience to market your products to and this module takes you through all the steps needed to accomplish this.

You are also going to learn all about automated systems that will enable you to build a list of customers and as a result get more reviews on Amazon.

Module 5 - The Perfect Product Page

Module 5 is all about the perfect product page. Your listing needs to capture your buyers' attention and convert them. 

The folks at ASM have spent years developing what a perfect product page looks like and that is exactly what you are going to learn. The whole module is dedicated to this with 14 lessons including a wrap up.

I learned a lot from this product page and will be implementing these soon. My review of ASM is taking up a lot of time from actually doing all the action items but i'm excited to get this product page going when it's time!

In this module you are going to learn:

  • How to perform strategic keyword research
  • Build a keyword list
  • Create a traffic grabbing title (good copy makes all the difference!)
  • Create bullet points that sell and differentiate your product from others
  • How to create a compelling product description
  • How to create product images that attract and convert
  • Best practices of pricing your product for profit
  • How to engage your customers through automated emails

Module 6 - Launching

The goals for module 6 are to launch your product on Amazon, hit your target selling price and generate consistent daily sales. Exciting stuff!

The following is covered in the Launching Module:

  • How to understand Amazon's Algorithm and how to use it
  • How to structure your advertising campaigns for maximum impact
  • Generating Sales velocity to rank your products for target keywords
  • Getting reviews
  • Maintaining your rank and optimizing price for profit
  • What to do when running out of stock and to regain rank

In module 6 you'll get access to two powerful tools. These won't have any value though until you order your inventory. To get these tools, you need to attain specific badges within the course - then they are unlocked.

This is why taking action is so necessary with each module!

The tools are:

  • Keyword Prioritizer Wizard - must have attained the "My First Inventory Order" badge before you get access to this tool
  • HPUCK (Rebates Marketplace) To get this tool you must have earned and claimed your "Inventory Arrived at FBA" badge.

Module 7 - PPC (Pay-Per-Click)

In module 7, you are going to learn all about advertising strategy for your business and how Amazon advertising works. 

The following topics will be covered:

  • How Amazon Advertising works
  • Learn about common advertising terminology
  • The different type of keyword match types
  • Effective PPC campaign structure
  • Bidding strategy and placements
  • Understanding your advertising goals and how to calculate them

While this massive list looks imtimidating, you don't need to worry as everything is explained very well. You don't need to be an expert in Amazon PPC to get this stuff. 

The training is done so in a way that understands you have never done this before so those new to Amazon PPC can relax!

When you're done this module, you'll be an expert in calculating your advertising goals to determine your strategy and impact on overall sales. 

You are also going to be using a tool called "Samurai Seller" and shown all the settings to use for a successful PPC campaign.

There are 14 lessons in this modules and each come with accompanying PDF's for you to download for quick reference if you get stuck.

Module 8: Scaling Your Sales on Amazon

Your goals for module 8 are to understand the different marketing tools that you can use on Amazon which will help you grow your sales.

You'll also learn how to setup checklists to systemize your business with daily, weekly and monthly tasks.

Here is everything that will be covered in Module 8. It's another big one!

There are 15 lessons in module 8 which includes the wrap up.

The action steps for this module are to register your trademark using Amazon's IP Accelerator and register for brand registry.

You will then access Brand Analytics to understand more about your market and begin the split test process from your data.

You will also create your first Amazon coupon and check your lightning deal status so you know when it becomes available.

You are going to set up and run your first promotion and once you are ready to add a new product to your line up you'll know how to find a new product or add a variation.

You're also going to start using your performance checklist and make this a daily habit so you'll be on top of everything.

This wraps up Module 8. Module 9 is next and is the last module... whew!

Module 9 - Advanced Marketing and Traffic Strategies

Congratulations, you made it to module 9!

If you read everything so far in this ASM review, props to you.

In this final module, here is what is going to be covered:

  • Testing new strategies and having a growth mindset

  • How to use Facebook Messenger sponsored messages

Your goals for module 9 is to understand advanced off-Amazon marketing strategies and to implement and test strategies to increase your sales and get more customers.

The important message here in module 9 is that you need a "growth mindset" to succeed when you test new marketing strategies.

This testing will be carried out when your business gets into sustainable profit mode and you'll want to get a team member in place to handle the day to day stuff. This will allow you to focus on growing your business and becoming even more profitable.

There's 11 lessons in Module 9 including the wrap up... and this wraps up the modules review!

ASM 12 Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Absolutely fluff free and no BS training
  • Each module includes actionable steps which build on the next module
  • Tons of success stories - more than i've seen for other Amazon FBA courses
  • An excellent and very supportive community. Got all my questions answered quick and from those that know what they are talking about!
  • Training is up-to-date, live coaching calls are included as well as all updates

Cons

  • Expensive AF!
  • There's a LOT to learn so will be overwhelming for some but it's explained well
  • Access is limited and not year round

ASM 12 Refund Policy

You'll feel at ease knowing that if the course is not for you, you can get a full refund. 

You just need to let them know within 30 days of your purchase.

Once you see what you are getting though, I highly doubt you will refund the course because as they say - you get what you pay for. ASM 12 is a great example of that.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

The Amazing Selling Machine 12 is by far the best Amazon FBA course. Period.

However, the course is not for everybody. The course alone is a substantial investment. So if you only have 5 grand kicking around don't buy this course because you will need funds to invest in your business.

However, if this isn't a problem for you, there is no better Amazon FBA course than ASM 12.

After going through all the training no other course offers so many knowledge bombs, a mentorship program, a fantastic and supportive community and such linear training without any BS I see in so many courses.

You will need a LOT of motivation in this course and I think that's part of the reason for their badge system. It really helps the less motivated to STAY motivated.

So in all honesty, if you are willing to do the work, I can see you being successful with this course.

It comes in at a hefty price tag for a reason.
