Will's course is targeted towards those that have an online store that are sick of Facebook ads. Facebook ads according to Will are "sketchy" lately so his main focus will be on Google Shopping ads and more, to get you on the right foot.
Newbie Friendly - If you're new to this game, then Will won't leave you with a blank expression with this training - it's 100% newbie friendly.
So what does one do if they don't want to run Facebook ads? Will's three areas of attack are Google Shopping ads, Influencer Marketing and Email Marketing. Whether these are a replacement for Facebook ads remains to be seen.
The course isn't cheap, and you're probably here because you want to know if it is worth the $997 price tag. Off the bat I can tell you that it looks to be lacking in content, I was expecting a lot more for what you have to pay.
If the content is good, then quantity should not matter just like with anything else. So let's continue on with this review and discuss what you're getting for your money.
Who is Will Haimerl?
Will Haimerl is a PPC coach that has trained over 8000 affiliate marketers. His focus was on Google Adwords, MSN Adcenter, Yahoo Search Marketing and more.
He's not some 19 year old noob with a Youtube Channel that decided to jump on the course bus, so he does have his credentials inline to facilitate online learning.
His course is found on Teachable, which is a fantastic platform that a lot of creators are starting to use these days.
The Modules in Online Store Accelerator
There are 8 modules in total with this course. All the trianing is done with video which is pretty common these days and probably the best way to learn if you ask me.
Let's take a deeper look into what's included with each module:
Module 1 - Welcome Videos
In this module you will find the typical introduction video welcoming you to the course, etc. He's also got a mindset video (thank god not a full module) how to join the private Facebook mastermind group and another video about PPC.
Right off the bat Will is pretty straighforward talking, saying things like "leave your excuses at the door" and the like. Sometimes people do need a bit of a pep talk and I prefer this over trying to pump you up with flashy cars and dreams. He keeps it real. Here's a look how the format for each module is structured.
Module 2 - Getting Set Up
Topics in this module are pretty typical with setting up an ecommerce business except for the platform that he wants you to use. More on that below.
- Basic PPC settings
- Stripe & Paypal
- Domain names - buying & choosing
- Logos - creation & uploading
- Creating a Gear Bubble Pro Store account
- Creating an "About Us" page
- General stores VS Niche type stores
- Settings overview
Now, the one thing that really stood out to me in this module the most was I was expecting your typical Shopify setup, but you're not going to get that. Will suggests using GearBubble.
I've never used Gearbubble before because when I started my ecom ventures a few years ago it was all about Shopify. My "guru coach" at the time only taught with Shopify so that's all I knew really.
Chances are you are probably in the same boat and don't even know what Gear Bubble is. From my research it's not as customizable as Shopify and it's expensive. I found some comments online about it and perhaps it might be a subject for a review in the future. So if you were expecting to use Shopify with Will's course, looks like you're outta luck!
Module 3 - Products
There's about 15 videos in this section and all are relatively short averaging about 5 minutes in length.
There are 2 types of products that Will teaches you how to market on your store.
#1 - On Demand
Will goes deeper into Gearbubble and why he uses it. With Gearbubble Pro, you can design items such as hats, shirts, beanies, leggings, necklaces, etc and Gearbubble with fulfil this for you, all on demand. Personally I think PillowProfits is much better and even though there's a $29.99 fee per month to use it, if you're on Shopify with the basic plan it's still much cheaper this way than spending $297 a month with GearBubble.
#2 - Private Products
These are the Ali Express (or Etsy, Ebay, etc) products that you can use with Gearbubble if you are not going to do the print on demand stuff. Oh and you won't be able to use Oberlo with Gearbubble if you're wondering.
Here are some of the other topics in this module:
- Creating designs using Photoshop & WordSwag
- Finding products on AliExpress, Ebay, Gearbubble &, Pinterest
- Hiring a designer
- Keyword considerations
- Outsourcing to Fiverr
Module 4 - Google Shopping Ads
About 16 videos are found in this section averaging 5 minutes in length. Considering this is the method Will uses for advertising, I was suprised how quickly you can buzz through this module. You might think that's a good thing but i'm afraid the level of detail I was expecting just wasn't there.
Here's some of the topics discussed:
- Creating a negative keyword list
- Conversion pixel
- Creating your Google Ads and Merchant Center account
- Creating target terms
- Fixing feed disapprovals
- Creating a shared budget
- How to manage campaigns
- How to target individual products
- Verifying your site with Google
Module 5 - Retargeting With Facebook Dynamic Product Ads
This section is a basic Facebook module that shows you how to set up your own store page, setting up your business manager and creating your store Ad account using the FPTraffic tool, adding your FB pixel to your store, getting people to like your page, etc.
This is not a fully fledged Facebook module like you'll find in something like eCom Elites, because it's focus is on retargeting once someone has visited your page on Google Ads. You can zip through this module on one cup of coffee.
Module 6 - Influencer Marketing Free traffic
Will shows you how to find influencers on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat Instagram and more. Now I don't know how old this training is because influencers have wised up to marketers and their not doing this stuff for free anymore. I really don't think they ever did so not sure how this is free marketing.
Perhaps if you gave the product away in exchange for a review, but if you're going to send your influencer a $1 AliExpress item they are just going to laugh at you. So although he does a pretty good job showing you how to find influencers, you have to expect to shell out some cash.
Module 7 - Email Marketing?
In this module you will learn how to set up a very basic email campaign. It's just 6 videos all based on Mailchimp.
There's not much to see here so I have nothing really to report. Just a tiny module that is dwarfed by other courses with an email marketing module. There's a lot missing in this section and Will almost seems bored with producing content at this point.
Module 8 - Course Summary
Nothing to learn here except just a summary of the course and telling you take massive action. It's like a small mindset module telling you to keep trying, don't give up, etc.
Online Store Accelerator Conclusion
This wraps up my review of this course. Can I recommend this to you at it's current price tag of $997? Of course not. I don't see anything about getting a refund either.
I think it's a good intro to eCom using strategies other than Facebook but is very watered down and seems rushed just to get completed. You could whip through this course in a day easily and you'll have buyers remorse by the time you finish all the modules - trust me.
Is There an Alternative to This Course?
The good news is that you've got two fantastic options that I can recommend where if you purchase either, I can sleep well at night knowing you're in good hands.
My first choice is Ecom Elites Ultimate.
This is created by 2 Comma Club winner Franklin Hatchett, a master in the ecom space. His course has well over 170 videos, completely eclipsing Will's course.
He goes over everything from Facebook ads (massive FB module btw) Instagram ads and a PROPER email marketing module.
Also included is SEO training, Chatbot training, Google Shopping and Ads training, funnel training and more.
All this for just $297. Read my review on Ecom Elites here.
The other option is Product Winner Blueprint from Tristan Broughton. You can also include his Google Ads Academy for a total price of $497 - half the cost of Online Store Accelerator.
You can read my Product Winner Blueprint review here to understand more what you're getting.
Buying a course to learn Ecom doesn't have to break the bank. A lot of course creators will put together rehashed crap from the web, throw a big price tag on it and hope someone buys.
Guys like Franklin and Tristan are here to stay. They engage with their students and provide a ton of value. They also price their courses reasonably so that almost everyone can afford them. In ecom you'll need some money to invest in your business. It would suck to drop a grand on a course when the bulk of that could be used for ads when buying a cheaper and better course - as crazy as that sounds!
