Best YouTube Courses to Take in 2024: My Top Picks

Hey friend! Welcome to my review of the best YouTube courses for 2024.

I spent more than 45 hours analyzing 10 of the most popular courses that teach you to become a successful YouTuber. Of those, I ranked them based on course quality, strategies, instructor reputation, and value for money. Not all made the cut.

These are the top 4 courses from my analysis.

You don't have to spend thousands to get a good YouTube course. These courses are affordable for most and will teach you how to grow your channel in the shortest amount of time. That means making money a lot quicker than going at it alone. And some teach you how to create a channel without even going on camera!

So are you ready to start making some YouTube money?

Let's dive in!

Best YouTube Courses

Here are my Top YouTube course recommendations:

  1. Tube Mastery and Monetization - Matt Par
  2. Mastering YouTube For the Busy Professional - Erika Kullberg
  3. Bye 9 to 5 - Jordan Mackey
  4. YouTube Success - Marques Brownlee (MKBHD)

1. Tube Mastery and Monetization: Matt Par - Best Overall YouTube Course

Of all the YouTube courses online, Tube Mastery and Monetization by Matt Par is the best overall.

I bought this course myself, (along with all courses I review) and I chose this as the best YouTube training course for a few reasons:

  • You are trained on both creating a brand channel (where you go on camera) and also a faceless YouTube Channel where you don't need to go on camera.
  • Matt Par has 9 successful YouTube channels, so you are learning from someone that knows this stuff.
  • The training is great for beginners. It shows you step by step how to pick a niche, set up your channel, keyword choice and even how to edit videos even with free video editing software.
  • It's the best YouTube automation course out there. (Automation is where you don't have to create your own videos, but use footage from other videos through fair use)
  • It comes with a 60 day money back guarantee.

If you really want to make money on YouTube but are just too afraid or don't have the confidence to show your face on camera, Tube Mastery and Monetization is the best faceless YouTube Channel course for that.

Matt Par has become famous for teaching a strategy to make money on YouTube without showing your face. You won't have to invest in a camera, lighting or ANY fancy equipment.

This is great if you're the shy type and just can't stomach the idea of showing yourself to the world.

If you are ok with showing your face, you are also taught how to create a personal brand channel. Matt Par's course trains you in both.

Matt Par is in his early 20's and makes over $30,000 a month with this strategy of creating "faceless videos."

How did he do it? He started when he was just 14, posting "other people's videos" to his first channel. These are small clips pasted together with either a text or voice overlay. They can be educational or for entertainment.

He had so much success with it that he started 8 other channels. He does have a personal brand channel called "Make Money Matt" where he talks about this strategy and how he achieved his success.

Who is Tube Mastery and Monetization For?

If you want to make money with the YouTube partner program and also with affiliate marketing but don't want to be on camera, Tube Mastery and Monetization is my top recommendation.

As I mentioned already, you will also learn how to create a channel where you go on camera, or a hybrid, where you have a mix of on-cam, off-cam content. (Be sure to read below how to get a huge discount)

What You Will Learn

  • How to pick a niche
  • Choose the the highest paying CPM niches
  • What niches to avoid
  • How to do market research
  • How to find existing content that you can use without getting into trouble (fair use)
  • Complete walk-through of channel setup including optimization, logo and channel art and setting up security
  • Learn Matt's keyword strategy
  • How to create videos including writing scripts, voiceoevers and what makes a video go viral
  • Learn video editing with free and paid software
  • How to grow your channel
  • Monetize your channel with both YouTube ads and affiliate marketing
  • How to sell merch
  • and much, much more

How You Can Use Other Videos and Images for Content

There is something called "fair use" - you can read more about that here. With fair use and YouTube, you can use other material (even copyrighted material) in your videos as long as it is "transformative". This means doing a voiceover, critique, parody, etc. of the material.

To put it simply, Matt teaches you how to use existing videos and images to make your own content. That's how you avoid going on camera. You don't even have to use your own voice, you can either outsource that or use text.

I am sure you have seen videos like this already. There are tons of them. One example is "Top Tens."

How much money does this faceless channel make?

Here are the stats according to Social Blade, a reputable YouTube stats website:

You probably notice a big disparity in the monthly and yearly income. Typically the actual value is somewhere in the high middle. So based on this, this channel likely makes 50K a month or around 750K a year. That's insane but true.

So How Can You Create a Channel Like This?

You can do something similar or choose from the 100 profitable niches that Matt Par suggests in his course.

What I suggest is to check out his free webinar to learn more about the process.

💰How Much Does Tube Mastery and Monetization Cost?

The regular cost of the course is $997, but you can get a $500 discount just by watching the webinar.

There is also a 3-pay option to break the payments up.

There used to be a coupon code you could use at check-out, but it's no longer offered. You need to watch the webinar to get the discount applied.

Special Hack: To get a $500 discount you just have to watch the webinar.  This also applies to the 3-month payment plan.

Towards the end of the webinar, you will be provided with a link that gets you the discount. This discount is only given in the webinar. If you check the sales page, there is no discount offered there. You're welcome! 😀

✅Pros:

  • Matt has proved his strategies work with 9 successful channels
  • Updates to the course are free
  • Very good support in the Facebook group whenever you need help
  • Fantastic money back guarantee (60-days)
  • Many student success stories

❌Cons:

  • May be on the pricey side for some
  • Some additional tools needed

Refund Policy

Matt Par offers a very generous 60 day money-back guarantee. If you are not happy with the course, you can cancel with no questions asked within 60 days. There's virtually no risk to you.

To learn more about the course, I bought it and did a full review. You can read the review here.

In Summary:

Matt Par's Tube Mastery and Monetization is the best YouTube Channel course for a variety of reasons. The most important is he has proved that he knows what works, based on the success of his 9 channels.

As someone new to YouTube, you will be taught everything - from finding a niche, getting content to use and how to edit it and grow your channel.

There's a ton of training and a helpful support group that can guide you every step of the way if you run into any roadblocks. I found the training to be very detailed but not too overwhelming. Matt explains things very well. So don't worry if you're new,

Anyone can do this if you're willing to put in some effort and follow Matt's guidance.

You may have seen Erika Kullberg on YouTube already.

She's a lawyer turned YouTuber and built a very successful youtube channel in under a year. She went from 0 to 70,000 subscribers and made $100,000 all under one year. That's very impressive growth.

So how did she do it?

Besides being a lawyer, Erika's passion is personal finance. She turned this passion into a very successful personal finance channel.

Who is Mastering YouTube For?

Erika says that her course is best suited for the busy professional that wants to start a YouTube Channel on the side. However, after going through the course material, you don't necessarily have to be a 'busy professional' to take this YouTube course.

If you want to become a food vlogger, travel vlogger, or even have a motorsports channel, this course is going to help you get incredible growth.

It can be for anyone with a passion for something, which you can turn into a business. This is because she teaches you to run your channel like a business, not a hobby. After all, you want to make money right? I think learning from someone who is in 'finance' knows a thing or two about making money.

You also need to get over the fear of being on camera. This course is for those that will be building a personal brand. This means that people will identify you as the go-to person for the field of expertise that you want to teach, talk about or just share with the world.

You don't need any prior YouTube experience. Even if you've never shot a video before, Erika will teach you how. And teach you the right way for the best chance at success.

If you don't have a niche yet but want to be a YouTuber, don't worry. Erika will help you find that niche and help you make money with it.

What You Will Learn

  • How to find a niche
  • How to set up your channel
  • Creating videos - planning, creating thumbnails and titles, writing a perfect script
  • Recording equipment - from a budget setup to professional
  • Video editing - Learn how to edit yourself or hire on a budget
  • How to get to 1000 subs
  • How to create a viral video
  • How to grow your channel

There are 15 modules and 94 lessons in total. The course gets updated according to new trends and new info that becomes available.

💰 How Much is it?

The regular price of the course is $497 but with this link here you'll get 10% OFF when you use Coupon code - DREWSREVIEWSYT.

Pros:

  • You can create any type of YouTube channel with this training across various niches
  • Erika knows how to grow a channel and shares her secrets in the course
  • Great for beginners or at any level
  • Many student success stories
  • Money back guarantee

Cons:

  • A little pricey
  • May require additional tools

Refund Policy

I like the fact that you have a "no-questions asked" refund policy. This means you don't need to prove you made an attempt to start your channel. You will need to request a refund within 14 days to qualify.

In Summary:

Erika Kullberg's YouTuber course is designed for those that plan to go on camera. If you are camera shy, you should consider Matt Par's course instead.

The course is designed with beginners in mind so even if you have never shot a single video in your life, it won't matter. You don't even need expensive equipment. With the right lighting and just a cell phone camera, you could make pretty decent videos.

If you have a bit of a budget, Erika can show you how to set up a kick-ass studio too.

I'm a fan of learning from successful YouTubers and Erika is one of the best. So if you're looking to build a brand channel around yourself (going on cam) then I highly recommend this course. The training was pretty intense, but she breaks it down well so even beginners can understand.

Even though she's a lawyer, I found her training to not include any "lawyer-speak" which was a relief.

If you're still undecided, why not pick up her free YouTube guide? Get the free guide here.

Bye 9 to 5 by YouTuber Jordan Mackey is a similar course to Matt Par's Tube Mastery and Monetization. It also teaches you to create and make money on YouTube without showing your face.

The actual name of the course is "Tube Monetization and Automation 2.0" but Bye 9 to 5 is his YouTube brand name - just to clear up any confusion. It's a very similar name to Matt's course, not sure if that was done on purpose.

What is different about this course is that there is more focus on making money with affiliate marketing rather than through the YouTube Partner Program.

Who is Bye 9 to 5 For?

Obviously, it's great for people that are camera-shy and don't want to be on camera. You'll learn to create YouTube videos using the "fair use" clause by using clips and images from other sources.

You also don't need any video editing or prior YouTube experience. There's a lot of training in this course, with over 300+ videos.

Here is Jordan's key to success:

Technically yes, that is the process, and it's similar to what Matt Par does.

Matt Par's course is more popular, but Bye 9 to 5 is a good alternative. When it comes to price, there is no working discount code for Bye 9 to 5, (even though you are taunted at checkout with "You have a voucher?" ) so it's double the price of Matt Par's course.

Bye 9 to 5 does include some bonuses, so if you want to learn things like personal branding, Shopify Dropshipping (why this is included as a bonus is beyond me), and his previous courses.

What I would suggest is to sign up for the webinar first if you haven't already. This way you'll get a lot more info as to what it's about. 🎫

You can also check out my review of Bye 9 to 5 to learn more as well.

What You Will Learn

  •  Choose from 4 different channels to create - Faceless channel, list channel, personal brand (on cam) and combination channels
  • How to find a niche
  • How to set up your channel from A - Z.
  • How to get your channel monetized
  • How to research topics for your videos
  • Video editing
  • Different monetization strategies
  • How to outsource (this is optional)
  • Monetize your channel with affiliate marketing

💰What Does Bye 9 to 5 Cost?

The regular price is $997 but you can get a $600 discount here. This brings it down to $397.00

Update! The discount doesn't seem to be working anymore. It looks like Jordan has removed the discount. So, I would recommend that you just go for Matt Par's course instead and save $500.

There isn't a monthly option so you'll need to pay that amount up-front. However, all updates are included and there are no upsells.

As I mentioned, both YouTube marketing courses (Jordan's and Matt's) compete directly. I would suggest that you watch both webinars to see which one appeals to you more. Personally, I lean more on Matt's course, but I think Jordan's course will also serve you well.

Pros:

  • You'll be trained by a successful YouTuber not some unknown
  • Even as a total beginner that has never made a video before, you'll get training from scratch
  • Many additional bonuses added

Cons:

  • The discount is no longer offered (at least for now) so you'll have to pay full price
  • Will take time before success can be achieved

Refund Policy

You've got 60 days to try out the course and if for some reason it doesn't work for you, you can ask for a refund.

However, this refund is action-based. You must show that you have done the work including all the research, and channel creation, and upload at least 5 videos. It's up to their discretion if you qualify for a refund or not.

It's not exactly risk-free like Matt's course is. But hey, I wouldn't recommend any course on this page if it sucked. So I doubt you'd be regretting your purchase.

In Summary:

Bye 9 to 5 no doubt competes directly with Matt Par's course. Both are great for beginners and the training is similar. However, I found that Matt's course goes into a bit more detail, especially when it comes to keyword research.

This is one of the reasons why I rated bye 9 to 5 lower. Another reason is price, you won't get a discount with Jordan's course anymore. There is no active discount coupon either, which is a bit of a bummer. I'll update this page if that should change.

If you want to learn behind-the-scenes tech production on how to make high-quality videos, there's no better course than YouTube Success: Script, Shoot & Edit with MKBHD.

You may have seen Marques Brownlee, AKA MKBHD on YouTube. He's got 15 million+ subscribers. So I'd say he's doing something right.

Who Is This Course For?

While his channel focuses on tech reviews, his course is for anyone in any genre. It can be a beauty or makeup channel, a car channel, clothes, or fashion. It doesn't matter what channel or topics you want to create, this course is going to help you with the production side.

What You Will Learn

  • How to research your topic
  • How to write a script
  • Plan your visuals
  • Hook your audience
  • Edit your footage
  • Posting your videos

There are 11 lessons in total, and the whole course can be completed in just over an hour.

Please understand this is not a training - intensive course like the others in this list. It's mainly for those that already have a YouTube channel or have experience with YouTube already.

While it's very short, the content contains no fluff and delivers actionable steps on how to create videos. A successful youtube video needs to have good production value, so that's what this course will teach.

Here's a peek inside the course:

Many people have a lot of passion to start a YouTube channel but lack the skills. So if you want to learn the ins and outs of video production, this online course in my opinion is the best one.

💰 How Much is YouTube Success: Script, Shoot & Edit with MKBHD

This is a free course. Well, not exactly. It's hosted on SkillShare. If you are already a member, then you've got access to it along with all the other courses on the platform.

If you're not a member yet, you can apply here and get your first month free.

The monthly cost of SkillShare is $32 or $168 annually. The annual price makes a lot more sense because it would cost you $384 a year if you paid monthly. Paying annually saves you $216 a year.

Pros:

  • Training is easy to follow along, even for beginners
  • Many new strategies even I haven't seen before
  • You can essentially get this course for free with a free trial on Skillshare
  • You'll have access to all courses on Skillshare if you get the course

Cons:

  • Relatively short, I had hoped it would be longer and more detail-oriented

Refund Policy

With SkillShare, your first month is free. If you subscribe to the monthly plan, they do not offer refunds. However, if you subscribe to the yearly plan, you can get a refund if you apply for one within 7 days of the charge.

In Summary:

YouTube Success by Marques Brownlee is for those that want to learn more about the technical side of YouTube when it comes to video production. If you are green on video production and how it all works, get a SkillShare membership and go through MKBHD's course. It will really help with the technical end of creating YouTube videos.

My #1 Overall Choice

If I were to pick one best YouTube course overall, it would be Tube Mastery and Monetization by Matt Par.

Why? Because it can help you create a successful YouTube channel whether you want to be on or off camera. If you look at YouTube nowadays, many highly successful channels don't even have the creator on camera.

If you do want to go on camera, this course also teaches you how to create a "branded" channel too, meaning you will be the face of your channel.

So, it has the best of both worlds. It's the most complete course which is why it is my #1 recommendation. I bought it myself and it's helped me grow my Faceless channels too.

And with Matt having 9 successful YouTube Channels, it makes sense to learn from someone that actually 'walks the walk'.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

Being a YouTube creator is one of the most fun ways to do digital marketing. With so many training choices out there, I didn't include many courses because I want to help you choose the best youtube course without getting confused. You can't go wrong with any of these training options even though Matt Par's course is my #1 for the reasons I outlined above.

So if you want to start video marketing on YouTube, check out the sales pages that I've linked for the courses in this review. These have all been created by very successful YouTubers. It makes sense to learn from people that actually do this stuff and do it well. Not from some fake guru that doesn't even own a YouTube Channel.

I'd suggest signing up for the webinars that are available so you'll get even more information to help you choose.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of training does a YouTuber need?

The type of training a YouTuber needs includes knowing how to find the right niche, finding the right keywords, writing a video script, video editing, understanding YouTube SEO and analytics, how to monetize the channel and how to grow the channel. If you're going on camera, you need to know strategies in filming and lighting.

Is YouTubing a good career?

Yes, being a YouTuber can be a good career if done right. Many YouTubers have quit their day jobs and have gone YouTubing full time. Money can be made through the partner program as well as with sponsorship deals, merchandising and affiliate marketing.

What is a YouTuber Salary?

A YouTuber's salary depends on many factors. First of all, they don't actually get a set "salary". Money is made from views, specifically a certain amount per 1000 views. This amount is based on CPM (cost per mille) which depends on the niche. This can range anywhere from $1 to $30 per 1000 views. Money is also made through other marketing means outside of what YouTube pays the creator.

How do I start a career on YouTube?

Becoming a YouTuber should start with the type of channel you want to create. Do you want to be on camera or not? What are you passionate about? These are two of the most important questions you have to ask yourself.

You can't "fake it", meaning, doing what some other YouTubers are doing just because they are making a ton of money. People will see through you. If you're doing it for the money, it's going to show. You need to do something that truly inspires you if you want to start a career on YouTube. You need to be genuine in order to get a steady stream of views and subscribers that enjoy your content.

Is there a YouTube course?

Of course, there's a YouTube course! I've vetted the best courses out there right now and included them on this page. Because the type of channels vary from personal brand channels, to travel channels, "faceless" channels, etc., I have included the best ones here right in this list.

What is the best faceless YouTube course?

The best faceless YouTube course is Matt Par's Tube Mastery and Monetization. This is because Matt has created 9 very profitable and successful "faceless channels" himself, so he understands how to create these effectively. He teaches what he has learned from these highly successful channels in his course.
