Drop Ship Formula Review: Is Simon Vernon’s UK Dropshipping Course Worth it?

Drop Ship Formula by Simon Vernon is a newish product on the market.

This course, designed to teach you dropshipping, aims to do things a little bit differently to other courses you may have encountered in the past.

This is why I felt I should review it. I want to help you to establish whether this course is going to be right for you or not, because I know that the content is not going to be suitable for all of my readers.

What is Drop Ship Formula?

Drop Ship Formula is a course put together by Simon Vernon (more on him a short while). This is a bit different from your typical dropshipping course, though. In more ways than one.

For starters; Drop Ship Formula is a course that has been designed for the British market and focuses on high ticket items.

It is for anybody that wants to sell their products in the UK. This is one of only a few online money making courses for this. The vast majority of them are for Americans, so this makes a nice change of pace.

Of course, Americans can use it, but I feel that you are only going to get the full value from Drop Ship Formula if you are planning on starting a business in the UK.

Dropship Formula Update

Since I originally wrote this review, some things have changed with Dropship Formula. But let's look at the Dropship Formula Youtube channel first. A lot of these Youtubers that promote their course will post a lot of how-to's on their channel, give away some free training, or teach something. They they wil get you to buy their course.

However, the Youtube channel is full of "independent reviews" of Dropship Formula. They all seem to say the same thing like, "I was blown away by the content", "it's amazing" or "I'm loving it so far".

I haven't seen any earning reports with these testimonials at all. Are they just paid actors?

I measure a course by its success and I haven't seen anybody prove that they are making money with Dropship Formula.

Pricing Changes

There are now three levels of the program available - Foundation, Premium and Ultimate.

It's gotten more expensive now. It used to be £597 but now the lowest price is £895.

Let's break this down:

Foundation - £895. It includes the full DSF training along with google ads training, how to automate your business, Bing ads, a proprietary Shopify theme, mastermind and Bi-weekly live Q&A.

Prremium - £1459. Includes everything above plus a niche validation service, 1x1 cocahing, live event recordings, and mastermind recordings.

Ultimate - £2695. Includes what is in both Foundation and Premium but for this option they will build you a "done-for-you" website.

I think this is a lot of money regardless of the membership level.

Anyway, that's just a quick update that you should be aware of.

The second (and probably the biggest difference to other courses) is that Drop Ship Formula focuses on selling high-ticket items. This means that you will not be trying to sell products worth a couple of pounds, but products work several hundred.

The idea is that you need to sell fewer items to make bigger amounts of cash.

About Simon Vernon

Simon Vernon is a British guy that has been running online eCommerce businesses, mostly in the world of dropshipping, for about twenty years now.

While I do not have specific information on his businesses or the amount of money he has made, I know that he has been quite successful.

So successful, that he is often brought on as a consultant for various online businesses that want to make greater sales.

Fun Fact: He made his first dropshipping sale while drinking beer in a bar in Thailand. Now that I can relate to as Thailand is my second home!

The Modules in Drop Ship Formula

So, with that out of the way, I want to take a look at the modules in this course.

As I go through them, I want to do a sort-of mini-review of each of the modules, just so you get a rough idea about what each of them brings to the table.

This should, hopefully, allow you to work out whether this is the right course for you or not.

Finding Your Niche

The course is kick-started by a guide to finding your niche. There is nothing introducing you to the course or anything. It is straight into establishing your niche.

While it would have been nice to have some sort of introduction, I can see why it isn't there. It allows you to dive into the course and start making money sooner as opposed to later.

Simon isn't a guy that wants to teach you the philosophy of running a business, he actually wants to help you to run a business.

Here, you will be going through what makes a good niche, before settling upon the first niche you want to tap into.

Create Your Demo Website

This is one area where his course is pretty much the same as other courses. This is the fact that you will be building your website on the Shopify platform.

Now, as I normally say in these reviews, you probably could use another piece of eCommerce software if you want. However, Shopify is so good, and the entire tutorial is aimed at Shopify, so why would you want to use something else?

The main purpose of this module is to set up a test store so that you:

  • Get used to the features of Shopify
  • Have a site up and running so you can add your products as soon as you have sourced them.

Find & Get Suppliers

This is an incredibly important module, particularly when it comes to high-ticket items.

Since high-ticket items could really put you in the red if you get a chargeback, you need to be sure that the suppliers that you are using are reputable.

This module will tell you everything that you need to know. This way you can be sure that the best quality products are listed on your website at the start.

Developing Your Website

This module builds upon the demo website that you created earlier. Here, you will be learning various 'tricks of the trade' to ensure that your website is professional, while at the same time ensuring that you can extract the maximum amount of value from it.

This means that you will be enjoying videos such as:

  • Using coupon codes to increase sales on Shopify
  • Google Analytics
  • Processing orders
  • Optimizing product pages for the maximum number of sales

These videos sit between 15 minutes and 25-minutes in length, which means you never feel as if you are not being given enough information.

Likewise, you feel as if the videos are just short enough that you do not feel overwhelmed with content. This is a course primarily designed at getting you to make money, not to bog you down with things you do not need to know.

Google Ads for eCommerce

This is the largest module, with 35 videos. You will learn how to run both Google Shopping and Google Search Campaigns.

The former is a concept that I never really see discussed in dropshipping courses, so it is a nice little addition.

Remarketing for Google and Facebook

This is even more on advertising campaigns, only Facebook is thrown in for good measure.

These campaigns are all about targeting products at customers that have already shown an interest in something similar. This, hopefully, means more conversions.

More Traffic!

This is my favorite module, mostly because I never see other courses discuss it except for ones like eCom Elites. You actually learn about free traffic here. This includes SEO and link building.

Also thrown into this section is more information on paid advertising, as well as a substantial amount of content on expanding your business.

The Pros

This is a well-put-together course that contains more information than I expected it to contain.

As I pointed out; there is information here that other courses would never touch, which shows just how much effort Simon put into creating it.

The videos are a substantial length too, and everything is incredibly well-taught.

If you didn't learn how to create a profitable online dropshipping course by following the information here to the letter, I would be very surprised.

The Downsides

While dropshipping high ticket items could net you a decent chunk of change, there are a couple of downsides.

Perhaps the biggest downside is that it is a lot more difficult to sell larger, expensive items than it would be sell something that is small and cheap.

Granted, the market is going to be a lot less competitive, but it can still be a struggle to gain those conversions. You need to do everything absolutely perfectly, otherwise, you will be eating through your advertising budget in next-to-no time at all.

Refunds on those high-ticket items are going to hit a lot harder too. Chargebacks are, sadly, a reality of online retail. While it isn't pleasant to have a chargeback on a low-value item, it is probably something that your business can cope with.

With what Drop Ship Formula teaches, you are dealing with expensive high ticket items so you really have to have enough money in the bank to account for any chargebacks you might get.

More specific to this product, Drop Ship Formula is a product squarely focused on the UK market. This is fantastic because there are very few products that do this.

However, it isn't so great for those not planning to tackle the UK. It almost seems as if you are paying for something that has little in the way of value.

If you are in the US, for instance, your money may be better spent on other courses.

The course does come in at £597 plus VAT (20%!), which some people may see as a downside, so I am going to add it to this section. it is an expensive course, but I have seen lesser courses on sale for a lot more cash than this one.

You will also need a touch more money to invest in your paid advertising and your Shopify account.

Conclusion

Despite the downsides of selling high-ticket items, Drop Ship Formula is a course that may be worth looking at.

Sure, it isn't going to be suitable for anybody that wants to sell outside of the UK, but since the UK is such a potentially profitable market, it may still be worth looking into.

Simon has put together a decent product here, and while there are a few negatives to the course, I feel the pros outweigh them. It is at least worth checking out.

A good alternative to Dropship formula is the Ecom Elites course.
